Time At Sea
Traditionally time at sea is divided into four (4) hour periods called watches.
There are six watches:
  1. Midnight - 04:00 -> Midle Watch
  2. 04:00 - 08:00 -> Morning watch
  3. 08:00 - noon -> Forenoon Watch
  4. Noon - 16:00 -> Afternoon watch
  5. 16:00 - 20:00 -> Evening watch
  6. 20:00 - midnight -> First watch
The evening watch can be divided into two (2) short watches:
  1. 16:00 - 18:00 -> First dog watch
  2. 18:00 - 20;00 -> Second dog watch
Each watch is in the charge of an officer. The traditional pattern is as following:

  • A light house
  • A light ship
  • Sea buoys
2. A proceeding ship Waiting for berth
  • A safe area
  • Temporary anchore
  • Tug boats
  • Docking pilot
  • Line handlers on board/shore

3. A Berthing ship
  • Few
  • Official clearance approved by public health document
  • Clearance procedures
  • Custom officers
  • Ships manifest 
  • Stevedores
  • Shore deck workers
4. Cargo operatioan
  • Agent
  • Stevedores
  • Ship chandler
  • Official clearance
  • Signing on/off
  • The need of the crew
  • Medical attention
  • Currency
5. A leaving ship
  • Concluded cargo operation
  • Store loaded
  • Official clearance received
  • All is in readiness
  • Shoreside personnel leave the vessel
  • The crew secures the ship for sea
  • The lines are cost off stand by engines and reverse her earliest route
  • Return to her natural environment the sea
